Calm Birth Childbirth Education Classes — COMING SOON!

In April I will begin offering Calm Birth Childbirth Education classes for expectant couples. In these classes you will both learn progressive relaxation techniques developed by Edmond Jacobson, M.D., at the Harvard University Medical School and at the University of Chicago in the 1920’s and 1930’s. The method was then further developed in the University of Massachusetts Medical Center medicine/meditation program, starting in 1979.

Description from the Calm Birth website Calm Birth Website, “Women practice healing their nervous system and their infant's nervous system of prenatal disturbances. This practice offers prenatal bonding new potential.

This is a method of toe to head progressive release into life force at the cellular level, for increase of vitality, function, and awareness. The progressive release of neuromuscular stresses that impact the nervous system frees neural function. The progressive calming of the mind gives increased tolerance and capability in labor.”

Holistic Pre- and Post-natal Yoga and Counseling

Cornelia is certified to teach Prenatal Yoga as well as Baby & Me classes. She has read extensively in the field of natural childbirth and holistic parenting and loves to dialogue about birthing choices with expectant moms. The most important piece of advice she gives is to tune in and trust your own instinct about birth and parenting. She has many resources to share depending on your area of interest.

Holistic & Mindful Parenting

Parenting can be an overwhelming task at times — we love our children so much and want the best for them, but there are so many choices that come up in our day-to-day lives. How do we know what the right decisions are? What about nutrition? Vaccinations? What type of school is best? How can we best nurture their spirits as we create rules and routines to keep our family peaceful? These and many other questions can be explored together. Holistic and Mindful Parenting begins with tuning into yourself and your own goals for your family. Once those key items are identified, we will take a look at the different aspects of your life and find the solutions that work for everyone using dialogue and creative problem solving.
